The Beatles made history in Jacksonville by refusing to perform to a segregated audience, making it the first integrated concert in the Southeast just months after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Kealing and I will share historical and first-person accounts about the social climate of Florida in the ‘60s leading up to the “British Invasion,” and the historic impact of the 1964 concert.
